The FPI grants (FPI) are supported by the Spanish Ministry of Science (Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia) to help the scientific training of university graduates that wanted to perform a PhD thesis in all the areas of knowledge.
The applicant has to be very motivated to begin a researcher career in Cognitive Neuroscience, that is, in the representation, study and visualization of the cognitive processes in the human brain, and specially their application in the processes implied in language acquisition. The applicant will get basic training in functional neuroimaging techniques (Event-related brain potentials, ERPs and fMRI-event-related Magnetic Resonance Imaging). They are requested programming skills or predisposition to adquire them and statistic/experimental designs and system nervous functioning knowledges.
Applicants can have, given the interdisciplinary nature of the field of knowledge, studies on Psychology, Physics, Medicine (Neurology), Biology and Mathematics. It is requested availability to perform short stays in foreign countries (Europe) of at least two months each year. It is also needed a good English knowledge, language in which the project and the thesis will be performed. Applicants must have the degree obtained after 1st January 2003 (see the call for exceptions).
Applicants will be integrated in the consolidated group of the Catalan Government (Generalitat de Catalunya) “Cognitive Neurodynamis and of the Mental Disorders (Neurodinámica Cognitiva y de los Transtornos Mentales, NECOM), that studies cognitive functions in healthy subjects and with psychiatric and neurological diseases.
